Dropset

Dropset

A dropset is a set that, on reaching close to failure, immediately continues with a lighter weight and no rest, until approaching failure again. It extends a single set past the point where it would normally end, adding total work without adding rest time.

In practice

It pays off best at the end of a session and on exercises where dropping the weight is fast and safe: machines, cables, dumbbells. On a heavy barbell compound the logistics ruin it.

Program with these criteria, without the spreadsheet.
